ARGENTINSK TANGO HISTORIE:
The dance known as “ARGENTINSK TANGO" was really born in two neighbouring countries: ARGENTINA and URUGUAY, around the years 1860-1870-1880 approximately. It started being danced in the cities of Buenos Aires and Montevideo, respectively, as a popular expression of a sector of the society that lacked almost everything.
Such sector consisted of an interesting mix of people that existed at that moment:
The INMIGRANTS that came from different countries of Europe to our countries Argentina and Uruguay at that period. There was people and families from Italy and Spain mainly, but also from Germany, Poland, Russia and others, who arrived to Argentina and Uruguay escaping from wars, crisis, bad levels of life, and looking for a better life.
The “GAUCHOS”: expelled from their land due to the laws of “alambrado”(hegn), that jobless and homeless, were obliged to emigrate from the country to the outskirts of the town where used to live the most poor people.
The BLACK people.
The POOR people of the society, that did not have access to a decent life.
Living in the slums of those cities and in the ports mainly,
all those people had something in common: they did not have anything.
That is how the tango was born.
From a hug between a man and a woman, from a need to combat loneliness, melancholy and hopelessness, to be able to dance all those lacks and express their feelings.
Today, danced almost all over the planet, the "Argentinsk Tango" is the most universal dance in existence.
I´d like to point out, that in my opinion, any person can learn to dance the A.Tango.
What is only needed is a good teacher, who preferably is, or at least has studied from native Tango teachers, from the place where the Tango was born. That teacher must not only be a good dancer, but must also be able to teach with pedagogy.
It is also important to explain that there are two tango expressions: The Social Tango and the Tango Show. The Social Tango is the one that everybody dances and that everybody can learn. It is simple, felt and beautiful. The Tango Show is the one seen on TV and very different from the Social one. It is a tango that aims at surprising,exclusively developed for the stage and Show, with more extreme movements and only danced by professional dancers devoted to the stage.
MARIA JOSÉ GRATTAROLA: is Uruguayan and has lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina during 13 years because of her formation as a A. Tango teacher, and after because of her profession: Argentinsk Tango teacher and performer.
She started dancing it in Uruguay approximately 15 years ago and has been teaching it in Buenos Aires and different cities around the world for more than 13 years now.
She studied with the well-known Argentinian teacher Rodolfo Dinzel, one of the most recognized Tango teachers for his method and pedagogy and teaching experience. María José has danced and taught tango in: Laos (Asia), San Francisco (USA), Rome/Palermo (Italy), Berlin/Munich (Germany), Denmark, Sweden and Qatar (Arabic Countries). Montevideo/Paysandú (Uruguay), Provincia de Santa Fe/ Necochea/ El Calafate / Buenos Aires (Argentina).
Today she lives in Denmark, due to the fact that she has got married and formed a family here with Per.
They have their own Tango Skole called: Den Argentinske Tango Skole that is in Jerslev, Kalundborg Komune.
